Susan Cahill is an independent filmmaker, curator, and Assistant Professor of Art History at the University of Calgary. She is principal investigator of the SSHRC-funded The Art of Surveillance Project, a database dedicated to Canadian artistic engagements with the contemporary surveillance state. This database also forms the basis for her current book project, States of Observance. She has recently completed a documentary on the resettlement of out-port communities in Newfoundland, entitled Almost Home.
