Programming Assistant

The Serving Communities Internship Program (SCiP) brings Alberta’s nonprofit organizations and post-secondary students together to make a difference in their communities. SCiP internships are meaningful, skill-based opportunities providing mutual benefit to both nonprofit organizations and post-secondary students. Nonprofit organizations gain added talent and human capacity so that they can better achieve their missions. Post-secondary students gain skills, experience, and networks, along with a $1000 bursary, so that they can better achieve their missions.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:

The Programming Assistant works directly with permanent gallery staff and has a working relationship with artists and community partners. Providing assistance with the presentation of all aspects of our public programs and engagement activities, the Programming Assistant will assist with the installation and strike of exhibitions, research, development, and implementation of public programming; and will communicate with the general public, gallery visitors, and partner organizations.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong interest in and knowledge of contemporary art, art history, and artist-run culture. Skills for this position include experience working with power tools, and experience with Mac OSX software. Additionally, the candidate will exhibit a keen attention to detail, be self-motivated and willing to learn, and have strong problem-solving and communication skills. Training specific to the role will be provided.

Some specialized skills required:
  • Basic knowledge of power tools and painting.
What we will accomplish at the end of the Internship:
  • Install and strike Main Space, Parkade, and +15 Window exhibitions
  • Develop knowledge relating to non-profit and artist-run culture
  • Experience working with exhibiting artists and program leaders
  • Develop understanding of gallery maintenance and exhibition preparation

Communications Intern
Deadline: OPEN UNTIL FILLED


The Communications Intern works directly with gallery staff to provide assistance with TRUCK online communications, including assisting with the development and delivery of our new website. 
 
Duties include: researching online communication strategies and streamlining digital engagement tools; updating the existing website and assisting with data transfer to populate new website; organizing, integrating, and consolidating online archive and video interviews; and providing other assistance as required.
 
The ideal candidate will exhibit a keen attention to detail, be highly organized and willing to learn, and have strong problem-solving and communication skills. Training specific to the role will be provided.
