Strange Relations

In the spring of 2012, TRUCK Contemporary Art in Calgary is initiating a new chapter in its public engagement activities. Strange Relations: A Lecture Series is an innovative program that features a series of bilateral lectures on unrelated topics. Part battle royal and part anti-symposium, Strange Relations invites two experts from two different fields to speak about what they know best (i.e. Modern Painting VS High Kicking in Karate). Strange Relations is a both a participatory art project and a participatory lecture series about art through the examination of both art and non-art subjects where the audience is asked to find kinship or discord between the ideas (they have to connect the two lectures in any question they ask) – resulting in a multi-faceted conversation about interpretation, comprehension and humor. Strange Relations is a social space for knowledge sharing and production. Founded on experimentation and research, the series allows unrelated ideas to act as grounds for play.

Soap Box

TRUCK Contemporary art in Calgary will be presenting a series of public talks by artists, curators, and critics, about every aspect of contemporary art and it’s production. The Truck Contemporary art in Calgary “Soap Box Series” will provide an open forum for the exchange of ideas about contemporary art and it’s production in Calgary. As part of this “Soap Box Series” we invited artists from our membership and beyond  to give public presentations on any aspect of their artistic production.
