TRUCK Contemporary Art in Calgary, in partnership with M:ST Performative Art Festival, are pleased to present an artist talk with Life of a Craphead on October 2, 2018 / 7:00 pm in the TRUCK Contemporary Art Main Space (2009 10 Ave SW). During the talk they will be expanding on the ideas and stories present in their exhibition, Entertaining Every Second, which runs September 7 - October 20 / 2018 in the TRUCK Contemporary Main Space.

Entertaining Every Second is a new body of performance and sculptural work by Life of a Craphead that engages with experiences and representations of western imperialism in Asia. The title of the exhibition comes from a Nam June Paik quote: “I am a poor [wo]man from a poor country, so I have to be entertaining every second.”

Life of a Craphead is the collaboration of Amy Lam and Jon McCurley. Their work spans performance art, film, and curation. The name “Life of a Craphead” comes from the opening joke of the very first live comedy routine they performed together in 2006. Amy is Chinese and Jon is Vietnamese-Irish and they live and work in Toronto, Canada.

The exhibition is accompanied by a production residency in concert with the ninth biennial M:ST Performative Art Festival, which takes place from September 7 - October 7 2018 in the Treaty 7 region, and includes 20 emerging, local, national and international performative artists.

PARKADE READING ROOM // In partnership with Shelf Life Books this exhibition includes texts selected by artists included in M:ST 9 that align and expand upon the ideas considered in their biennial projects.
