RESONANT DIALOGUES: 25 YEARS OF THE SECOND STORY ART SOCIETY IN CALGARY

$25.00

In 2008 TRUCK Contemporary Art celebrated its 25th anniversary, and to commemorate this milestone, produced a boxed set publication featuring twenty-five writers, elucidating the first twenty-five years of the gallery’s existence:

Renato Vitic / Patti Dawkins / Chuck Hughes / David Clark / Grant Poier / Mark Dicey / Cynthia Ward / Carol Beecher / Sarah Adams-Bacon / Katherine Ylitalo / Cheryl L’Hirondelle / Marc Hutchinson / Amy Gogarty / Christine Sowiak / Paul Robert / Jeff Derksen / Tanya Rusnak / Lissa Robinson / Jim Ellis / Brett Snyder / Linda Carreiro / Ed Chan / Kay Burns / Holly Simon / Keith Murray / Scott Rogers / Erin Belanger

Including over 75 colour images, these volumes are comprised of reminiscences, anecdotes, critial texts, poems, and interviews, with each writer bringing a personal perspective on a particular exhibition or exhibiting artist. Celebrating and exploring the work of both local and international artists such as Brian Jungan, John Will, David Hoffos, Jeff Viner, Terrance Houle, Robyn Arsenault, Wednesday Lupypciw, Anthea Black, Nicole Burisch, Bart Habermiller, Martin Bennet, Mirelle Perron, and many more, Resonant Dialogues forms an important archive tracing the cultural development of contemporary art in Calgary.

Sundogs

$5.00
Sundogs brings together the work of six emerging and mid-career Icelandic artists.  Looking to the theatre of the commonplace, through a variety of approaches—video, installation, performance, sculpture, photography—these artists investigate facets of everyday life in their native land and within an increasingly global community.  Within this, an interest in narrative structures, ubiquitous objects and materials, and other things from the natural and built environments that are often overlooked serve as points of departure.  As such, the resulting works act as gestures that respond to and restage aspects of human experience.  In so doing, these artists evoke an uncanny and sometimes humorous subtext to our shared and often universal surroundings.

The Life and Times of Buffalo Boy

$30.00
This publication explores the life and times of the performance persona Buffalo Boy, from his very first appearance in 2004 to his greatly exaggerated first death in 2008 at the"Battle of Little Big Horny” and beyond. The book considers the nature of the performance persona, the dialectical nature of this contemporary re-imagining of the west, and the discursive power of performance. The book is a partnership between the Mountain Standard Time Performative Art Festival Society and TRUCK Contemporary Art in Calgary, produced with the generous support of the Canada Council for the Arts.
