There will be a screening of extensive tape compilation contextualizing and chronicling the long collaboration of Quebec video artists Robert Morin and Lorraine Dufour. The tapes will screen at the TRUCK Gallery from March 19th to 30th, and then will be available for on-demand viewing at EM/Media from March 30th to April 15th. The tapes run to almost ten hours in total, and include some of the best video work ever made in Canada.
Born in Montreal in 1950, Lorraine Dufour has a degree in Communication. She has scriped, produced, and edited numerous educational videos, and currently works as a producer and pree-lance editor. Lorraine Dufour has collaborated with Robert Morin for over 15 years on the conception, production, and editing of their short videos. Since 1978, Lorraine Dufour has produced and edited Robert Morin's two feature-length videos, Tristess modèle réduit and La réception. She continues to work as director, editor, and producer at Coop Vidéo, providing production and editing assistance to members and non-members.
Robert Morin was born in 1949 in Montreal, where he studied Humanities and Communication. In 1971, he began working as director and cameraman for community television, and subsequently for the ORTQ in Rimouski where he produced films, videos, and audiovisual works until 1974. His photography has been exhibitioned at Véhicule Art and Galerie Laurent Tremblay. He also works as director of photography on independent film and video productions. In 1977, Morin and a group of colleagues founded the Coopérative de Production Vidéoscopique in Montreal. He continues to work as photography director on independent productions and as producer-director on educational video productions. His tapes have been shown at festivals in Montreal, Quebec, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, New York, Paris, Bordeaux, Brussels, Berlin, Locarno, Bogota, Monb´liard, Copenhagen, and more. He is currently working on screenplays for two feature-length films and is completing the final edit of the video Double face.
