Since August of 1986, Dennett has been working on a series of still lifes using his turn of the century apartment/studio as a focus and catalyst for ideas. These paintings are sometimes humorous, often labor intensive, and are of a perceptual nature.
Derek Dennett, a painter and installation artist, lives and works in Calgary. He has attended the Alberta College of Art, Sheridan College, and the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in August of 1984. Dennett's last exhibition in Calgary was "The Mound of Altagar," a co-operative video installation with Paul Landon at EM/Media in 1986.
