The exhibited drawings incorporate traditional myths, symbols, and imagery from various cultures, and the artist essentially re-tells old stories from a modern perspective.
Colleen Kerr, born in North Vancouver, British Columbia, studied Fine Arts at the Vancouver City College and Okanagan College in Kelowna, B.C. prior to attending the Alberta College of Art from 1984 to 1987 where she majored in Drawing. In addition to drawing, she is actively involved in performance and video art. Kerr has exhibited in Off Centre Centre's "Project/Product," performced in 2nd Story Gallery's "Performance Focus" series, and her videotapes have been screened at EM/Media (Calgary), PRIM Video (Montreal), and Centre for Art Tapes (Halifax).
