The exhibition "Lyrical Landscapes" is landscape based, and all of Sylvia Richman's abstractions are from nature. "I try to create images through texture and design, and infuse the whole with intensiely emotional color". These drawings are a new mixed media technique done on Arches watercolor paper.
Richman, a native of Winnipeg, has lived, studied, and painted in Calgary since 1973. She obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Universty of Calgary in 1979, with a Major in Painting and a Minor is Drawing. She is represented in the permanent collections of the University of Winnipeg, The Peter Whyte Foundation (Banff), Auburn University (Alabama), the Pan Canadian Petroleum Ltd. collection in Calgary, as well as many private collections in Canada and the U.S. She has several solo exhibitions throughout Alberta, and will be showing in Edmonton, Saskatoon, Stoney Plain, and Calgary in 1985. She is a member of the Print and Drawing Council of Canada, Visual Arts Ontario, and the Manitoba Artists for Women's Art.
