Artist's Statements:

"We are all affected by the ways of the world; the things that go on around us. Some touch us more peronally than others. My personal reaction is put down on canvas with the hope that my viewer will also experience a similar reaction, or understand mine." - Susan Ross

"A mirror image is a picture of one's self going the wrong way. I paint something so as to see it; not so that the viewer can see me. I want my work to simply exist, so that it doesn't become merely a reflection of what I can do. Certain conceptions lead one forward to certain fabrications; the former beind the motivation, but not necessarily the content. Painting is a Belief. The Belief in Life." - Joyce Fraser

" 'A work that aspires, however humbly, to the condition of art, should carry its justification in every line. And art itelf may be defined as a single-minded attempt to render the highest kind of justice to the visible universe, by bringing to light the truth, manifold and one, underlying its every aspect. It is an attempt to find in its forms, in its colors, in its light, in its shadows, in the aspects of matter and in the facts of life, what of each is fundamental, what is enduring and essential -- their one illuminating and convincing quality, the very truth of existence...' (Joseph Conrad)" - Monika Wildemann
